Spring carrot fertilizer

Carrots are fertilized throughout the growing period. But in order to get a good crop, it is important to fertilize carrots in the spring. The choice of fertilizer depends on the type of soil.

Spring carrot fertilizer

Ground preparation for planting

To make the vegetable stronger, fertilizer is added to the bed in advance (pre-fertilize the soil). Choose a place where tomatoes, onions, cabbage or potatoes used to grow.

Carrots love organic fertilizers. Often use compost and peat manure. They are introduced in the spring at the rate of 6-8 kg per 1 sq. m

If necessary, the land is deoxidized with ash, dolomite flour or chalk. If the pH of the soil is lower than 5.5, liming is carried out. On too sour ground, the vegetable will lose taste. In the spring, fertilizers for carrots begin 2 weeks before sowing. Also, nitrogen supplementation of carrots is carried out in the spring.

Fertilizer is not applied simultaneously with liming. Minerals are added after harvesting or 2-3 weeks before sowing.

Baking powder is added to heavy soil, and a mixture of nitrogen and phosphorus to the rest. The bed is dug up to a depth of 25 cm.

First method

The choice depends on the type of soil:

  • sawdust, sand or humus are applied to peat soil;
  • sand, humus or peat are well added to clay and podzolic;
  • sand, sawdust and 2 tbsp. l superphosphate;
  • mixtures of nitrogen and phosphorus are added to the sandy soil.

Second method

Use another option of fertilizer before planting:

  • 2 weeks before planting, make vermicompost;
  • 2-3 days before planting - humates.

For 1 square. m take 65-80 g of mineral fertilizer, dig the soil. Instead of a mineral mixture, ash is used. For 1 square. 2 handfuls are sprayed and spread evenly over the plot with a rake. Ash is also brought during digging at the rate of 12 kg per hundred square meters of land.

Fertilizer when planting

Only using fertilizers does a good carrot grow

To accelerate the emergence of seedlings, the seeds are processed before planting. There are several popular ways:

  • Sowing seeds with paste. For this, liquid glue is prepared from flour and mineral mixtures are diluted in it, mixed with seeds and sown.
  • Soaking seeds in a solution of boric acid. 1/3 teaspoon is added to 1 liter of solution. acid and 1/2 tsp nitrogen.
  • Seed treatment with wood ash. For this, 1 tbsp. l ash is bred in 1 liter of water. Seeds are placed in a bag and placed in a solution for a day.

The first feeding of carrots

The first top dressing in spring is done after the appearance of 2-3 true leaves. This vegetable is demanding on the content of potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen in the soil. When making potassium salt, it is better to use a complex with a low chlorine content. Also, the vegetable responds well to sodium and magnesium.

Fertilizers with nitrogen in the composition are applied carefully. With an excess of this substance, the tops wither, the root weakens. The fruit begins to branch and quickly deteriorates during storage.

The fruits of carrots are sensitive to the concentration of soil solution. Because of this, all top dressing is carried out only in liquid form, watering the aisle.

For the first feeding use 150 g of mineral fertilizer per 1 square. m, including:

  • potassium - 60 g;
  • nitrogen - 50 g;
  • phosphorus - 40 g.

After 2 weeks, a second top dressing is carried out using a half dose of fertilizer:

  • ammonium nitrate - 20 g;
  • superphosphate - 30 g;
  • potassium chloride - 30 g.

There are other options for feeding in the spring. You can water the aisle with a solution of nitroammofoski. To 10 liters of water add 1 tbsp. l nitroammophoski or nitrofoski. Also prepare solutions of 1 tbsp. l potassium sulfate and 1 tbsp. l azofoski.

To make the fruits sweeter, tops are sprayed with humates (1 g per 10 liters of water). Beneficial substances pass from foliage to fruits.

With a lack of potassium in the soil, the beds are sprayed with a 2% solution of magnesium sulfate.

Carrot is an unpretentious vegetable, but it is demanding on the content of potassium in the soil. This is important for the proper formation of fruits, so do not neglect fertilizer for carrots when planting in the spring.

To make the crop better, organic matter is added after the harvest. Top dressing from nitrogen and phosphorus is carried out twice during the growing season. Proper fertilizer application increases the yield.
