Preparing for the mushroom hunt

Beginner mushroom pickers often add false and poisonous mushrooms to baskets, so be sure to read their description before going to the forest.

Before driving a car beyond the city limits, they take sandwiches, water, a compass, baskets for harvest, a knife. Be sure to wear rubber boots and clothes with long legs and sleeves. A common and popular summer mushroom is boletus. It is known for its high palatability. It is fried, stewed, boiled, added to pies as a filling. The most important thing for a mushroom picker is to find a white mushroom - a universal option for different dishes.
  4. July. The mushroom season of mushrooms in the Moscow region begins in July. They are dangerous in fresh form, they are soaked for a long time before pickling. Collecting breasts is complicated by the presence of their false poisonous counterparts. This month, the most colorful summer mushrooms make their way from the earth: mushrooms and chanterelles. In July, a funky or smelly morel grows. Its medicinal qualities are excellent, but it is edible only theoretically.
  5. August. The last month of summer is the most plentiful for a quiet hunt. New species join the previous mushrooms: autumn mushrooms begin to grow on the stumps and roots, clumps appear under the birch trees, and green and yellow hats of russula appear along the sides of the paths. At the end of summer, truffles are also collected. These are relatively rare mushrooms that grow in bright clearings and edges.
  6. September-November. Autumn mushrooms are usually those that have remained after the end of summer: brown boletus, traps, whitewash, mushrooms and the Moscow region truffle.
  7. Winter. December-January - the time of the appearance of winter mushrooms, which are usually fried or added to soups. Openings are the latest among all mushrooms, they are searched not only on trees, but also in their hollows.

Best places for a quiet hunt

The best direction for picking mushrooms in the suburbs is Yaroslavl. Plants are looking for near the forest from the station Pravda. Near the Pushkino station area, chanterelles and russules grow in abundance. In a swamp near the village of Sharapovo, ceps and raspberries grow in bumps.

After 5-10 km from the station there are wonderful views: a lake, a waterfall with a nearby leisure complex, a good forest. There are an abundance of boletus. This is the best mushroom place in the suburbs.

Another good place is at the Pushkin district. This is the Sofrino station, where mushroom pickers get by train from the Yaroslavl station. Ceps and other leaf mushrooms grow there.


The Kursk direction is the Grivno and Kolkhoznoe stations. They get there from the Kursk station in Moscow. East of the "Hryvnia" are looking for boletus, boletus and other tubular mushrooms. Here grows a lot of chanterelles and butter.

Having reached the Kolkhoznaya station, they go east, to the village of Nikonovo or west, to Panino. This region is characterized by nigella, boletus, and chanterelles, but usually other types of mushrooms can also be obtained.


The Ryazan direction stands out on the mushroom map for the Moscow region. This is a good start for a quiet hunt in 2018. Forests are located 5 km from Bronnitsa station. Good places are 3-4 km from the railway from Faustovo station and 63 km platform.

Mushroom pickers from the Moscow Region are aware of a pine forest, which they get from the Chernaya station. Chanterelles, butterflies and unusual sows grow here, although the latter are dangerous to collect: they absorb toxins.

If you go north from Lukhovitsy station, you will find yourself in a forest where delicious mushrooms of the Moscow Region - ceps and brown boletus grow.


Kazan direction is one of the most profitable. Boletus and cap boletus are found 2 km from Lukhovitsy station. Porcini mushrooms and butterfish grow well in a forest 1.5 km from Chernaya station. Honey mushrooms are harvested 3-4 km from Platform station 63 km. Usually a mushroom picker gets to one of these places, taking an electric train at the Kazan station in Moscow.


The Gorky direction is different in that it is farthest from Moscow. You need to go to the Fryazino station or to the 61 km platform. In the first case, you should go south, beyond the village of Vsevolodovo. From platform 61, it’s worth going north - just 2 km to the right forest — or go 5 km to the south.

Dangerous mushrooms

The most dangerous mushrooms in the suburbs are pale grebe, fly agaric, satanic mushroom and false breasts.

  1. Pale grebe looks like a honey agaric. The ingestion of this deadly fungus affects after a few hours or even days.
  2. Amanita - psilocybin mushroom. It contains hallucogenic substances. His hat is red or green, with white dots. Hallucinogenic mushrooms cause delirium, paranoia, auditory and visual distortions.
  3. The Satanic mushroom, or Satanic boletus, with its own names makes you wary. It is often mistaken for cep. In his youth, he has a flat hat, which gradually takes on a convex shape. Color is gray or light green. At the break, the flesh has a bluish tint.
  4. False breasts are difficult to distinguish from real ones. Their main feature is a strong camphor or coconut smell. They cause dehydration and diarrhea.

Mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, Kombucha are tasty, they can be grown independently. A farm with year-round crops is great, but not everyone has a place for it.


Mushroom picking in the forest does not require cellars, balconies and summer cottages. It brings pleasure, especially if you know where the best mushroom places are located near Moscow.
