Conditions for keeping indo-domestic animals at home

Indoor breeding is popular among domestic farmers. This is due to their high productivity even with the simplest conditions of existence. Difficulties can arise only in the winter. Indoor women do not tolerate cold and are thermophilic birds; therefore, keeping indolect in winter at home requires certain actions from a person: creating the optimum temperature in the barn.

Indoor maintenance in winter

Who is an indochka and why does she love warmly

Indochka are musky ducks that are bred in captivity. Today, there are two main theories about what gave the name to these birds. One of them is connected with the historical territory of the birds. The largest indochoke populations are recorded in Colombia and Mexico. The Muiski tribe previously lived in these territories. Musk ducks were the main food of these Indians, hence the name.

Another theory is Moscow. In the era of the reign of Elizabeth, Hispanics delivered these birds to Europe for the purpose of breeding in a different climate. In the historical chronicle, deliveries were called “Moscovy company”.

Many people believe that turkey is a mixture of ducks and turkeys. Such an assumption does not have any supporting facts. “Indo” only indicates that the bird comes from South America, which was settled several centuries ago by the Indians.

The high air temperature of the main habitat of birds played an important role in their breeding in captivity, especially in the CIS countries. In winter, they are kept in well-insulated rooms, they organize short walks in the fresh air in specially designated areas and add foods rich in vitamins and minerals to the diet of birds.

Bird care

Keeping an indolect at home is easy and profitable.

Beginning in the 80s of the last century, domestic poultry farmers first used musky ducks for breeding purposes as domestic rather than farm birds. It was enough to only learn the features of caring for them, such skills make it possible to raise birds. It quickly became popular to keep birds in pens and greenhouses due to the large number of benefits. Some of them:

  • keeping indoot does not require the location of a reservoir nearby;
  • the musky duck has strong immunity, which saves it from diseases from which other birds suffer;
  • tasty and dietary poultry meat;
  • windmills have high egg production rates.

Those farmers who provide proper care for musky ducks make good profits in the form of eggs and meat. If we talk about nutrition, then from the other domestic birds, the indole is little different. They also prefer to eat cereal mixtures and feast on mashups of cottage cheese, herbs, vegetables, chalk and other products. But deciding to keep birds at home, you should understand some of the features of their breeding in winter.

Indoor feeding in winter

A balanced daily diet of birds is one of the main criteria for their successful growth and productivity, so the main food for them is grain. It should make up most of the daily diet. For each head per day, up to 350 g of such food. In winter, food remains the same.

Indoor women are unpretentious in eating and eat any grain crops, but they should not be given fresh barley: it badly affects the health of birds and can even lead to their death. It becomes safe only when soaked.

Wet food is also needed in the winter. Musk ducks eagerly eat mixers of a large number of products:

  • barley;
  • wheat bran;
  • herbs;
  • vegetables;
  • cottage cheese.

Vitamins and minerals are also necessary for birds in winter. Most of them are found in vegetables:

  • carrots;
  • beets;
  • cabbage;
  • pumpkin.

Potatoes should also be added to the mixers, but only in boiled form. Experienced farmers recommend adding natural minerals to the daily bird menu:

  • salt;
  • shells;
  • a piece of chalk;
  • eggshell.

You can learn about how to make such mixers by watching video materials on the content of such birds. The low temperature in the paddock or greenhouse, where musky ducks are kept, requires the farmer to frequently change the water. To prevent birds from catching a cold, it should be ensured that the water is always at least 19 ° C. Problems with the solution of these issues may not arise if the air temperature in the main place of their content is room temperature.

Warming of the main place of detention

On the territory of Russia and other countries of Eastern Europe in winter, the outdoor columns of thermometers regularly show temperatures below the zero mark. Severe frosts force poultry farmers to monitor their livestock more closely. Caring for indochka at this time of the year requires changes in the form of warming their main habitat. Despite the strong immunity, the Indochka are southern birds and are not accustomed to such low temperatures. They can freeze their feet or scallops, catch a cold and even die, so the owner of musky ducks needs to warm the room for the winter.

Features of the repair of the premises

Building a new bird pen or repairing an old one requires some action from the farmer. They are associated with the basic building materials that are used in the work. So, you should stop your choice on materials that hold heat. For the floor, wood is the best option, but it is less durable than concrete. Having decided nevertheless to use this natural material for coating, the floor level must be raised 10-15 cm from the ground. So that the boards do not quickly become angry, they should be covered with a special primer on the wood and covered with linoleum.

If there is a desire in the barn to make a concrete floor, it should be well insulated. Linoleum is spread on top of the concrete screed, and a large layer of hay or sawdust is thrown on top. Such a litter will be a good protection against overcooling for birds. We must not forget about the walls with the ceiling of the structure. All slots must be covered with cement or blown with foam. For insulation of external walls, it is best to use foam blocks: they serve as an additional layer for the walls, while maintaining warmth inside it for a long time.

Fresh and clean air

Indow breeding will bring benefits and profit only if all the rules for their care are met. The egg production and growth of the bird itself depend on the health of the entire livestock. In winter, this may cause problems. If you keep the birds in a poorly ventilated area, they will be exposed to infectious diseases. To prevent this, it is necessary to equip the shed with a ventilation system. It is forced-air and mechanical. If the barn floor area does not exceed 20 square meters. m, it is impractical to use mechanical ventilation.

The main task of supply and exhaust ventilation is to remove old air and replace it with fresh air drawn into the shed from the street. With these processes, it is important that the air temperature remains in the same aisles as it was before, and there are no drafts in the room itself. To do this, you must:

  1. Make through windows in the opposite walls of the building so that they are located away from birds. An exhaust window is made at the bottom, 15-20 cm from the floor, and a supply window is at the top, 10-15 cm from the ceiling. Pipes facing the street are inserted into them.
  2. In order to avoid strong drafts that can harm the health of birds, it is necessary to install doors inside the barn on the ventilation windows. With their help, the air flow is regulated and completely blocked.
  3. Ventilation pipes are covered with “umbrellas” that protect the barn from getting inside rainwater.

Features of installation of ventilation of a barn with indoor are shown in a detailed video.

The need to install heating appliances

Keeping homemade musk snows in winter requires the farmer to control the indoor temperature. If the floor is covered with straw or sawdust and there are no drafts inside the barn, favorable conditions for the growth and productivity of birds are observed in the temperature range from 12 to 29 ° C. If the thermometer column shows a lower temperature, their productivity decreases. At temperatures below -5 ° C frostbite of the extremities is possible.

It is not difficult to save birds from frost if:

  1. Heat the barn with incandescent lamps.
  2. Heat the shed with a potbelly stove.
  3. Use electric heaters for heating.
  4. Use specialized heaters.

If you want to raise the air temperature by 1-3 °, ordinary bulbs are suitable for heating the room. If they are hung around the barn in the amount of 3-4 pieces, they will be enough to create optimal conditions for the life of birds.

To more effective means of heating include a potbelly stove. In one room, such a stove is able to increase the air temperature in an hour of its work by 12-15 °. But do not forget about the safety of the indigenous women themselves - the stove should be fenced off from birds.

Walking birds in the winter

The maintenance of indolets in winter also requires the organization of certain conditions for walking. The perimeter necessary for walking along the barn must be fenced off from the wind and rainfall. It is best to build a canopy that protects the earth from snow and rain. If this is difficult to do, the breeder needs to remove the area from the snow (if any) before walking.

It is important to control the duration of the indoor walk: in frosts from -15 to -10 ° C, the range should be limited to two hours, from -10 to -5 ° C for 4 hours. At temperatures from 0 ° C and above, birds can be on the street for up to 8 hours.

Experienced farmers recommend novice breeders to protect musk ducks from contact with water, not only in winter, but also in late autumn. Water procedures for them will be safe only when the pond warms up well from the action of sunlight.
